INTRODUCTION

This report covers update from 4th May 2020 to 8th of May 2020 and entails the update on the 4th suspected case of Covid-19 at Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital (MWCH) and donations from NCHS as well as a visit from the DHMT.

THE SCREENING TEAM

Monitoring of the screening process and distribution of hand towels, hand sanitizers and soaps for hand hygiene were carried out on daily basis for the week under review. Strict surveillance of all clients passing through our gates is being carried out.

THE COMMUNICATION TEAM

 Health Education at the facility –Education at the facility has been on-going at OPD, Male ward, Female ward, Public Health Unit and other units.

INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL TEAM

  • Disinfection at the facility: Regular cleaning of the facility using disinfectant is being done on daily basis.
  • Ensuring social distancing: The policy of one visitor to a patient instituted earlier on is being enforced.

SUSPECTED CASE MANAGEMENT TEAM

UPDATE ON THE 4th SUSPECTED CASE OF COVID-19

• Caring for the Patient
The result was ready on the 8th of May 2020 for the patient who was self-quarantined at home. (7 days after sample collection) and was negative.

LOGISTICS

Donations from National Catholic Health Secretariat (NCHS) comprising hand sanitizers, liquid soap and face masks were received on the 5th of May 2020. Another donation of items from Assembly member of New Nkusukum electoral area and Mankessim Traditional Council were also received by the Covid-19 rapid response team.

VISIT BY DHMT

The DHMT initiated a mass testing exercise on Covid-19 for at risk people in the Mfantseman Municipality including health facilities; and on the 8th of May 2020 sample were taken from 23 staff of MWCH that are at a high risk of being infected with Covid-19 to Noguchi Memorial Institutes for Medical Research for a laboratory test on Covid-19.
