The core funding currently required for the day-to-day running of the hospital is estimated to about $1,808,510.64 or €1,416,666.66 or GHC8,500,000 per year, excluding education sponsorship projects.
To date, our main benefactors have been the National Health Insurance Scheme, the Students’ of Institute Le Roys, in Swizerland, as well as the many individual friends and benefactors from around the world. In more recent times, we have seen strong and growing support from local benefactors.
Unfortunately, the financial support from some of our major benefactors who have helped us with the day to day running of the hospital have dwindled. This is of great concern as this has impacted on the on-going sustainability projects of the hospital.
Obstetric Fistula patients to the hospital are recruited through couple of avenues. The main recruitment point is through outreach programmes and community durbars.
The Ministry of Women Gender and Social Protection for some time were recuiting clients from other parts of the country to the centre for repair. The support from the ministry for the past two years has gone down due to lack of funding.
The hospital also serves as the referal centre for most of the hospitals and clinics dotted in and around Mankessim township. Most pregnancy and other complex medical conditions are bought to our hospital for further attention. Since our hospital is the only dedicated centre for the repair of obstetric fistula, lots of such conditions are also refered to us through the sister catholic hospitals in the country.
Women are repaired from fistula are also rehabilitated and reinterated into the society through seed fund for micro business and appreticeship programmes.
