A Visit and Donation by Tema Club 0303 to Fistula Unit

Ten patients reported to the facility on Wednesday 26th of August 2020 at the fistula unit of Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital, among the patient the oldest was 51 years of age and the youngest patient 4 years of age. Unfortunately, some of the patients have been in that condition for 6 years and some did not know where to seek help from. Most people do not know about the condition and thus public awareness need to be created. On Thursday 27th of August 2020 medical assessment for the patients carried out and those with co-morbid conditions such as UTI was treated.

Tema Club 0303 made up of a group of distinguished Ghanaians paid us a visit on Saturday 29th of August 2020 and made a generous donation to the facility. The donation was made up of a wide range of PPE’S and a cash donation towards the repair of 10 Obstetric fistula cases. The delegation was led by the patrons namely Nana Kobina Nketsiah IV (Paramount Chief of Esikado Traditional Area) and Mr. Fred Oware, the CEO of Bui Power Authority and Manna Heights Hotel. Other members of the group were Mr. Joe Ohemeng (Chairman of the group) and Hon. Consul General Jon Mitchell of Trinidad and Tobago.

They also interacted with some of the fistula patients. Media personnel from Citi TV, Peace FM etc. were present to cover the event. A four (4) member delegation from Ghana Girl Guides Association was also present to donate items for the upkeep of the 4 year old girl.
